Design Process

Our designs are either inspired by fabric, a vintage piece or finding a specific garment or art piece. For the Dainty cotton eyelet top and skirt, it was the fabric and vintage cutouts that inspired it. We wanted to make a romantic vintage look that felt timeless and yet fit for the times. We came along beautiful cotton eyelet fabric while searching through the garment district. We looked through many different textures, patterns, and after some time, we found two different cotton eyelet patterns and a white cotton that flow beautifully together. After seeing the first sample, we added bangles at the bottom of the top to add some playfulness to the look and moved the cutouts higher to look similar to the 18th century top. After the third sample, we achieved the right fit and fabric composition. The end result were two pieces that can be worn together or with other pieces and timeless pieces to add to any wardrobe.
